As we all lay dying
A two-day festival unfolding life and death across theatre, sound art, and performative, immersive installations supported by RCA and UAL.
“How do our lives ravel out into the no-wind, no-sound,
the weary gestures wearily recapitulant:
echoes of old compulsions with no-hand on no-string:
at sunset we fall into furious attitudes, dead gestures of dolls.”
—William Faulkner
In response to, and in defiance of, William Faulkner’s poem The Marble Faun (1924), As We All Lay Dying is a meditation on the struggles and hardships of life, and on the dedication of oneself to a purpose until the final breath. It celebrates those who dare to dismantle the worlds they inherit, to forge new ones. Their spirit of dedication that persists beyond endings: restless, courageous, and endlessly becoming.
