Baranika Sureshkumar
Baranika Sureshkumar is a multidisciplinary artist based in Scotland with a particular interest in painting, currently in her final year studying Fine Art at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design.
Her practice serves as a diary, delving into reflections and experiences. Seeking to create a certain immersion, Sureshkumar depicts her reality through intertwining the ‘observed’ with the ‘personal’.

Inspired by Carl Jung's 'Shadow Self' concept, presents a crossover between two worlds. Despite being contained within a singular body, the self diverges between what is presented to others and what is kept hidden. In this space, the act of conformity and coexistence is examined.
Shadow Boxing

Inspired by Carl Jung's 'The Shadow Self' concept, Sureshkumar depicts a boxing match between her internal 'Shadow' and external self. Who ‘wins’? What does it mean to ‘win’? Reflecting on their contrasting features, she seeks to understand how they influence one's persona whilst simultaneously overwhelming one another.
